This is the result of WAY too many hours of work. This was made for a school project (we needed an illustration for a poster, a guide and some other stuff depicting the Hero's journey). 300 ppi, 18x24 inches sized. It killed SAI, it killed Photoshop, and my computer, and my goddamn wrist... cause it was a huge file and I hadn't drawn in so long I was rusty as hell - especially on full digital drawing, which I haven't done much on this scale.
I hate the dragon (or drake or wyvern however you wanna call it. my favorites are the old man and the rock on which the hero stands on the left. The bottle's pretty neat too and I like how I did the water. EVERYTHING ELSE CAN DIE RAWR
I don't know why but seeing this makes me think twice about doing illustration - in a good way :3 That's one massive canvas with an interesting composition though, and it turned out lovely!~ Nevertheless I dislike working on huge files unless there's good reason to and interesting enough. lol everything else can die - I know the feeling :K
Aaah working on such a big space was a challenge in endurance, composition... and on my computer. But it was a lot of fun to do, though I can clearly see some of my mistakes. It's an intense learning process and I'm very thankful for your compliments!
Endurance and learning, I agree! Although I've yet to experience my computer getting taxed, I get worried sometimes about it. If you had fun while doing your illustration though, I'd say it was worth it to see it done for the most part! Anyway, the pleasure is mine!~ ^^
HOLY FLYING HECK! This is incredible!! So much detail, I could stare at it all day! I love all the greens at the bottom, and the characters are so gosh darn adorabru!
