Okumatta Application - Shigeru

Here's my late application for the Okumatta group here on DA. Took me forever to draw Shigeru! I was trying some new brushes and techniques ~

Names : Shigeru
Age : 25 (though Kitsune are known to gain one tail for each hundred years they have lived, and Shigeru has 9 tails - do the maths)
Gender : Male
Creature : Kitsune (fox spirit) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kitsune
Job : ??? at Bar Ikinuki, though he seems to spend his time being lazy.

Abilities :
- Shapeshifting : Like all Kitsune, Shigeru can shapeshift. He is, though, much too lazy to do so and limits his shapeshifting to two main shapes ; a voluptuous woman meant to seduce men and a small child meant to profit from people's weakness. He never shapeshifts into objects. He could probably pull out pretty impressive shapeshifting if he bothered with it.

- Fox Fire : He creates a small hovering flame which doesn't actually seem to hold much purpose - he mostly uses it to light his pipe. In fact, he uses it to send messages. Feeding a parchment with whatever message he wants send to another person to the fire, the fox fire will then travel sometimes great distances simply to regurgitate the message to the recipent.

- Dream Seer : Shigeru will sometimes have visions in his dreams ; things that have happened, things that are happening, or will happen in the future. It is often very hard for him to know for sure if his visions were from the past, present or future and thus they are, in the end, of little use to anyone.

Personality : Shigeru is lazy at best, completely self-centered at worse. He doesn't seem to care for much but to drink, sleep and read strange little novels. The Kitsune will order his fellow workers at the Ikinuki as if he owned the place, barely ever working at all himself.

He has seen a lot of the world and finds nothing much interesting in it anymore, thus his interest in Okumatta's number of strange individual and his willingness to work in a bar - a task too low for him, really. Despite all that he is extremely kind and patient and can be quite likable if one ignores his terrible habits.

Story : A long, long time ago, a fox cub was being chased by farmers who had caught it with blood on its muzzle, having just killed one of their hens. The fox was too young and too famished to run much longer when he stumbled into the small garden of an old monk who lived alone at the bottom of a mountain. The monk, upong seeing the exhausted fox, considered the situation for a moment, then rushed it into his house before sitting in his garden once more. The farmers arrived then and bowed to the old monk. "Have you seen a fox, old man?" They asked. "It will have blood on its fur, for it attacked one of our hens." The old monk shook his head and denied having seen the creature.

The farmers took his word for it and left in a hurry, hoping they could catch the fox cub and take their revenge upon it. With the farmers gone, the fox came out of the house, still panting. "Thank you, old man. Is there anything I may do to pay you back your kindness?" It asked. The monk smiled. "I will need some help removing the weeds from my garden. Come back tomorrow and give this old man a hand, and your debt will be paid." The fox nodded once, then escaped into the woods. The next day it appeared and helped the monk as instructed, then was awarded a very small cup of sake and a bit of meat. It promised to pay back the monk once more and left, only to come back the next day again. This went on and on for years, until the old man finally died, leaving the fox alone but with the knowledge of friendship and kindness.

Strange to say that this was the first years of Shigeru's life, who, much later in life, drifted randomly to Okumatta, where he seemingly decided to stay - most likely out of sheer boredom with the Human world.

Additional Info :
- He is quite enamored of books filled with a lot of romance (and what could be considered "saucy" content), and is an amateur writer of such things himself.
- He is perfectly able to 'hide' his nine tails but doesn't bother doing so most of the time.
- He can out-drink anyone.
- His hair/fur was originally orange as most foxes are, but as he got closer to the 900 years old mark his hair/fur turned paler and paler, until the silvery-white color it is now. He doesn't mind it.
- His right eye is blue while his left eye is green. He was born this way.
